Can I Export Night Vision or Thermal Products?

You cannot export night vision without valid U.S. State Department approval. It is a Federal Offense to do so without said approval. A plea of “ignorance” is no excuse, and it will lead you straight to a U.S. Federal Penitentiary. Night Optic Devices, Night Vision, and Thermal Optics, including their components, are highly sensitive items whose distribution is heavily controlled and enforced under the Internal Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), which states:

Export of the commodities described herein is strictly prohibited without a valid export license issued by the U.S. Department of State Office of Defense Trade Controls prescribed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), Title 22 Code of Federal Regulation, Parts 120-130.”

Full ITAR language can be found here:
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

Exportation of Night Optic Devices, Night Vision, and Thermal Optics includes traveling outside of the country of the United States via any means.

It is, also, a violation of ITAR to allow any non-U.S. citizen to look through U.S. Gen3 Night Vision Devices. This violation extends to any non-U.S. citizen on U.S. soil. They are not allowed to have access to any operator’s manuals or documentation pertaining to U.S. Gen3 Night Vision Devices.

Why are some products’ sales restricted/limited to military and law enforcement only?

Some products are restricted by the individual manufactures, and as a reseller of those items, we must honor and abide by their own specific company policies. These individual manufacturers’ restrictions do not reflect government restriction on civilian ownership of Night Vision Image Intensifiers or Thermal Imaging Devices.

IR Laser Restrictions Pertaining to Civilians

IR Lasers are controlled by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and they are classified as Class IIIb or IEC Class 3B Medical/Industrial Lasers. IR Lasers, in the aforementioned classes, emit light that is only detectable through Image Intensified Night Vision Devices. Because that light is undetectable by the naked eye, serious and permanent damage to the eye could result by their use.

We do not stock any non-civilian IR Laser products, and any government, military, or law enforcement agency will have to contact our sales department directly to purchase these items. Our sales department will need a purchase order stating the specific product name, product number, and quantity of items requested. A disclosure form and letter, signed by the Chief Law Enforcement Officer or Commanding Officer will be required, and our sales department can generate a template form/letter for you to print on your agency’s official letterhead and sign. Once the purchase order and all required documentation has been submitted, the information is transferred to the manufacturer who will fulfill the order and ship the products directly to you.

All civilian legal IR Lasers (Class 1) available will be published on our website for sale.

IR ILLUMINATORS VS IR LASERS

IR Lasers are intensely focused beams of light that are typically used to mark or aim. An IR Illuminator is, in its most basic term, an invisible flashlight that is only visible under night vision. The IR Illuminator provides enough non-visible ambient light to enable the night vision equipment to provide the best image possible.

DO YOU SELL USED/REFURBISHED EQUIPMENT?

Yes and no.

With digital night vision and thermal riflescopes, we will sell both refurbished and used products. All refurbished products will be manufacturer refurbished products, specifically and only digital night vision and thermal riflescopes. We can and will, at customer request, sell their used digital night vision and thermal riflescope products  on consignment if, and only if, we have the product in hand to examine and test the product for function. All products on consignment will be shipped to us, undergo testing, and once passed our evaluation, will be published on our website for sale. While on consignment, the product will remain in our custody to be sold. After completion of sale, the original owner will be either provided with store credit or have the funds from the sale delivered to them via wire transfer or certified check minus the costs associated with the transaction.

All image intensified products will not be sold as a refurbished or used product. Image Intensifier Tubes have a limited life span, and there is no way for us to determine what stage of life the I2 tube is in.

WHAT IS THE COST OF SHIPPING PER ORDER?

The vast majority of our products, more than 90% of them, are shipped for free via standard shipping. Smaller orders will typically be subject to a small flat-rate shipping fee.

DO YOU MAINTAIN A FULLY STOCKED INVENTORY?

Many of our most frequently ordered items will be in stock depending on manufacturer availability. With some of our products, we are at the mercy of the manufacturer as supply and demand of the more expensive products will dictate whether or not the products are readily available to ship. Outside of the supply and demand of certain products, digital night vision and thermal optics are receiving new and improved firmware and software updates. By minimizing the amount of these products we have on hand and having them shipped to you directly from the manufacturer, we are ensuring that you are receiving the newest product with the most recent updates allowing you to use your products immediately. Other products are made to order, and the products will not be completed/assembled until the purchase has been made.
